Birth story - Noorin and baby Sinan

Hi everyone, hope you all are feeling great 👍

My colleague had mentioned about hypnobirthing to me, I tried to book the classes at QE hospital but they were fully booked, I searched online and found the Positive Birth Company... it’s been an excellent help although I didn’t go through vaginal birth but it helped me to be brave throughout the c section as well as when I went through the stress of going in and out of hospital and during my recovery, the music was calming, the breathing technique taught is awesome.. thank you.

I had Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and it took us around a year and a half to conceive the second time. My first born is 11 years old and I had him via emergency c section since he was a big baby 4.58 kg. This time around the hospital monitored me closely due to high risk 🤰 pregnancy, first for my bmi being 35.5 and second for conceiving after a long gap of 11 years. I was given aspirin to take everyday through my pregnancy.

I went for my regular clinic appointment and was offered a sweep on 39 weeks and accepted it but I didn’t get the contractions.

My water broke on 17th December morning around 9.00 am called hospital was asked to come in for check up. Once there I was asked to stay and be admitted, when I asked to leave and come back again when my contractions were stronger I was asked to sign a form, as the hospital didn’t want to be responsible if anything happened, this scared me hence I chose to stay.

My contractions were 15 to 30 minutes apart, I was given another sweep, however my contractions stayed the same throughout. They offered me drips but I didn’t accept this as my previous experience with induction through drips had been a nightmare. I had contractions which wouldn’t go away for 18 hours and I never got the urge to push and they had to rush me for emergency c section previously, hence this time around I didn’t have guts to go through it again. I opted for a c section and my baby Sinan was born on 18th December around 2.00pm.

The hospital realised me the next evening, however after two days I had to go back due to an infection on my wound. They gave me antibiotics for 7 days. On 5th day I had to go back again as I was bleeding heavily from my wound, they admitted me for 3 days and I was given antibiotics through IV drip. Once released I celebrated New Years at home however I was called back again as they said there were further complications to do with the infection. Thank God am doing fine now, however with all this stress I could only breast feed my son for a month. I guess the only thing I regret is accepting the sweep in 39weeks, I should have waited but I just couldn’t wait any longer to meet my baby.

I would like to thank all the lovely ladies who shared their birth stories, they gave me strength to go through my pregnancy and post pregnancy as well.
