Birth story - Yemima and baby Zack
Hello all! I’ve had my baby today! He was due the 2/12 but made an appearance on the last day of November he weighs 3.1kg and I have no idea what time he was born… before 11pm?
I had morning surges from 4-8 that kept me awake. then they stopped! They were strong and coming every 10 minutes.
I went to Ikea and had 2 random ones there.
Noah, my toddler, went to sleep and surges picked up again around 3pm and were coming every 10 minute.
Around 6/7pm surges were really random like every 4/5minutes then 9 mins again and I asked my husband how on earth I was gonna do this. I was having intense back labor!
I tried different positions and was trying to sleep in between them, I changed sides, had 2-3 more surges and suddenly I felt the head coming down and I couldn’t breathe through it anymore! I was moooing kind of and I told my husband I needed to poo.
I went to the toilet and I saw blood.. Klodi started panicking asking me what to do but I said I didn’t know! We couldn’t find the midwives number cause we lost the book… I finally found it and rang, she could hear me in the background, and told Klodi she wouldn’t make it in time! We were told to call 999.
We called 999 and the woman on the phone said, ‘tell your wife to get off the toilet and lay down on her back.’ I said, ‘I won’t do that!’ She told me I had to as my husband would help deliver the baby… I layed down and I was like nooooo waaay! Luckily the paramedics walked through the door, I told them I didn’t want to be on my back.
I went on all fours and they got me gas and air, I kept having pushing surges and they were getting ready to catch baby. I don’t remember how many pushes and surges it took but the head came out in the sac! They told me one more push and he would be out. In the next surge I pushed as much as I could and he came out.
We didn’t get to use the pool as I overestimated the amount of time we had… we didn’t even fill it up! I was shouting at my husband to fill up the pool while I was trying to 'push my poo out' when it was really baby coming… luckily he wasn’t born on the toilet.
The midwife walked in as soon as he was born but the paramedics had all the fun! One of them saw labor for the first time and she caught the baby, it was so nice she got to witness something natural! The placenta was delivered soon after and all is well. No tears and no stitches
Hypnobirthing has helped me so much! I was breathing through every surge and when my body took over at the pushing stage I just let it do what it needed! The paramedics asked me to push a couple of times but I ignored them, I trusted my body.
