Birth story - Katie and baby Orla

I have read your incredible book and have done most of your online course (I didn’t get to finish it because our amazing baby girl turned up slight earlier than planned!!) I just wanted to say the most ginormous thank you for writing your book and teaching everyone your magical ways!! I had our little girl, Orla on Tuesday...she was born on our living room floor very unexpectedly! I had planned on going into the birthing centre but didn’t quite get that far. Although I had the most insane labour I kept a cool head and felt like I knew exactly what was going on (knowledge is power!!) and that’s all because of you.

I popped into hospital to get checked out on Tuesday afternoon as I had reduced movements, baby was all okay and they checked me and I was 2cm. We got home for 2pm and everything started kicking off...we ended up having her 1 hour and 43 minutes later at home on our living room floor!!!

The midwife arrived 40 minutes before our beautiful girl did! I had 2 paracetamol at 2pm and no other pain relief! If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have known what an earth was going on and probably would’ve thought I was going to die!!!! But instead I felt confident that my body knew what it was doing and to just roll with whatever was happening ❤️
