Birth story - Daniella and baby girl

After a traumatic first birth, I decided to research hypnobirthing as I’d heard so many good things about it. I purchased Siobhan Miller’s book and I learnt so many new things and different techniques to use in labour. My preference was to labour in water with my mum and husband in the room at the birth centre.

I went into spontaneous labour on my due date at 2:30pm, I hadn’t had any previous signs of labour so was pretty shocked when contractions started coming fairly frequently. I started off sitting on my exercise ball and used the amazing Freya app, up breathing through each contraction. After 2 hours my husband arrived home and noticed I was quite vocal so he decided to call my midwife, who heard me in the background and suggested we call an ambulance. The feeling I had was so primal I felt like a wolf! I didn’t realise at the time, but I was in transition.

I was determined to get to the hospital without the use of the ambulance, so we tried to make our way out the house, just as I was about to leave my waters broke! Literally 2 mins after that I felt the ‘urge to do a poo’ and ran to the toilet. My husband was on the phone with the ambos at the time and they suggested I lay on the floor, we were preparing to birth our daughter on the bathroom floor 🤦🏽‍♀️

Once the ambos arrived they advised we still had time to get to the hospital which is only 15 mins away, they could see a bulge but no head yet. We got to the hospital in record time (7mins) and I jumped straight onto all fours and within 20 mins my beautiful daughter was born! All 9.8pounds of her 😍 I couldn’t believe from the first contraction to the last was only 4 hours!! 

My first labour I had an epidural which resulted in my labour lasting 23 hours, and me feeling like absolute crap afterwards. I am so thankful to Siobhan and the positive birth company for helping me have the most empowering, positive birth experience I could ever ask for!
