Baby’s Changing Bag - your daily packing list!

As a new parent, ensuring you have everything you need when you’re going out with your baby for the 1st or 100th time makes life so much easier! Stepping out the door with a well-stocked baby changing bag makes you feel invincible, especially if it was packed the night before and you haven’t had to rush back in the house 15 times for everything you’ve forgotten! So here’s our list of must haves for your day to day changing bag.

  • Essentials for nappy changes

  • Must-have hygiene items

  • Clothing and comfort necessities

  • Extras to save the day

Our favourite changing bag:

First up, picking your bag. This is more important than you think. It needs to be easy to organise, carry, open and close, all one handed, while shutting the car door with your foot and singing a lullaby! A Tiba & Marl changing bag is like a cult product for the Positive Birth Company Team. It looks so chic, has all the pouches and pockets you need to be super organised and also comes with a changing mat that’s not too bulky. It’s a bit of an investment, but this bag will see you through the years and multiple children!

For baby:

  • Nappies: Always pack more than you think you'll need! It's up to you as to what nappy you use, but we do love the Bells Bumz reusable nappies. Reusables not your thing? Kit & Kin have a great range of eco nappies and wipes.

  • Nappy bags: Please try to use a biodegradable bag if possible.

  • Baby wipes

  • Changing pad or mat: A portable changing pad like the one included in the Tiba & Marl changing bag provides a clean surface for diaper changes anywhere, even that grim service station bathroom.

  • Nappy cream: Essential for helping prevent and treat nappy rash. This Moogoo Nappy Balm is dermatologically tested for sensitive skin and is made with natural oils to help soothe skin.

Coconut oil: Having a cream or oil on hand is essential when your baby has dry skin, or for when your hands get dry from the constant washing after changes. This Kokoso coconut oil is multi-purpose (it can be used as a nappy balm or moisturiser!), and contains soothing anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

  • Muslins

  • Spare clothes for baby

  • Soother/Dummy

  • Comforter or special toy

  • Bib

  • Feeding Supplies: Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, bring what you need. If your baby is weaning, we love these Hipp organic baby food jars for when you’re on the go.

For you:

  • Spare Clothes: You never know when you’ll need a quick change, babies have a knack for knowing exactly when the wrong time is to make a mess on you!

  • Hand Sanitiser: To keep hands clean when soap and water isn't available.

  • Pram liner: These Binibamba sheepskin snugglers are super handy to have as a pram liner. They keep your little one warm in winter, cool in summer and can be use as a soft surface if you’re out and about and need to lie your baby down somewhere.

Packing a baby changing bag might feel like prepping for a mini expedition, but with everything on hand, you'll be ready for whatever parenthood throws at you. Trust us, being over-prepared beats scrambling for baby wipes in the middle of a nappy nightmare! So, go ahead and pack that bag like a pro. Your future self (and your baby) will thank you for it. 😊
