Birth story - Sophie and baby girl

I’m a first time mum and had been told about the positive birthing company through friends and family who loved the videos. I bought the pack and watched the videos with my husband and even from the first video I remember thinking this makes so much sense why doesn’t every pregnant lady know this.

I had a low risk pregnancy and decided we would like a home birth, everyone I told kept saying wow you’re brave for your first I wouldn’t want to be that far from a hospital (20 minutes away) I kept telling them the statistics.

I was 6 days over my due date and we had been at our nieces naming ceremony all day when I got into bed that night my waters broke, I thought at first we would have hours so to try to go back to bed although the contractions started 15 minutes later and were very intense my first thought was I can’t do this at home I’m going to need pain relief.

I started breathing through the contractions and timing them on the Freya app, my husband sorted the birthing pool and rang the midwife, set up all the candles and room spray. The midwife arrived 3 hours into my labour and examined me I was already 9.5 cm dilated and my body wanted to push I got into the pool and the warm water felt fantastic. I felt my breathing change and let my body do it’s thing. We had the lights down and spa music playing. My husband was my rock and kept telling me how amazing I was doing when I had a slight wobble before I birthed her head and then with another push our little girl arrived, she was so calm in the water and stared up at us with her big beautiful eyes. So within 4 hours since my waters broke I had given birth to our daughter it was the most incredible positive experience, nothing like the horror stories I’d been told. So thank you again for this amazing program.
